Fruits and Vegetables—Fresh, Frozen and Processed—Are Alive at Anuga 2009

Chicago, IL – Cologne, Germany

No other food category has as great a presence at Anuga than that described as produce. Fruits and vegetables—from whole and freshly harvested to fermented and jarred to juiced and bottled—dominate Anuga, a distinguished global food and beverage fair held every two years in Cologne, Germany.

Anuga 2009 runs October 10 to 14 in the prominent Koelnmesse Convention Center.  Unlike any other trade show, Anuga’s unique concept of featuring 10 specialized trade show segments in one location has been highly successful in matching exhibitors with their right target audience. The 10 segments are: 1) Bread & Bakery, Hot Beverages, 2) CateringTec, 3) Chilled Food, 4) Dairy, 5) Drinks, 6) Fine Food, 7) Frozen Food, 8) Meat, 9) Organic and 10) RetailTec. Fruits and vegetables are howcased in one form or another in each segment, with their greatest showing in Chilled Food, Drinks, Frozen Food and Organic.

At Anuga, meetings take place on the show floor. There are opportunities to import, export and co-pack, which is becoming a part of everyday business as the food and everage industry becomes increasingly global,” says Mette Petersen, president and
managing director, Koelnmesse Inc., Chicago.

“In 2007, there were 6,795 exhibitors from 95 countries and 163,384 visitors from 74 countries,” says Petersen. “Further, in 2007, two thirds of exhibitors indicated they use Anuga to debut new products. Anuga sets the trends and puts all the mportant topics in focus.”
