STRONG NORTH AMERICAN PRESENCE AT ANUGA 2013

Anuga continues to be the world’s most international industry event for the food & beverage industry taking place from October 5-9, 2013 in Cologne, Germany. Every two years, U.S. Food & Beverage manufacturers count down to the start of Anuga to reveal their latest products to the media and find buyers from all over the world. This year, over 160 U.S. companies are participating in the eight USA Pavilions at Anuga.

The two largest U.S. groups will display products in the Fine Food (Hall 10.2) and Meat (Hall 9). Additional, smaller U.S. groups can be found in specialized USA Pavilions in Bread, Bakery and Hot Beverages (Hall 2.2), Dairy (Hall 10.1), Drinks (Hall 8), Food Service (Hall 7), Frozen Food (Hall 4.2) and Organic (Hall 5.1).

All USA Pavilions are organized by Koelnmesse, Inc., the Chicago-based North American arm of the Anuga Show organizer, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The Pavilion program is designed to help U.S. companies reach international export markets. It also helps larger and established brands such as Meat & Poultry flagships Tyson, Perdue, Smithfield or AJC to meet with their international distribution networks. Staple products from manufacturers such as Seneca, Magic Time, Snyder’s-Lance and Sun Maid and many others will be showcased in the U.S. Fine Food Pavilion. The strongest regional representation will come from the Western United States with 30 companies showing many agricultural products that thrive from the region’s sunny and hot climate. The Frozen Food hall will feature various cheesecake types offered by Eli’s, flatbreads by Kontos or Bagels that can be baked to perfection through in-store bakeries.

Reflecting the increasing importance of Organic products, the Organic Trade Association (OTA) will showcase products of its members in the U.S. Organic Pavilion where 11 U.S. companies will show their products. A trip to the Drink Hall will lead to the U.S. companies Ginseng Up with their delicious beverages and Carolina New Orleans serving tasty cocktails. Blended Ice Coffee and Chai beverage mixes by Big Train and naturally flavored teas offered by Revolution Tea can be tried in the Hot Beverage hall. And not all Italian cheese is made in Italy: The New Jersey based Milano’s Cheese will provide samples of their grated and custom blended Parmesan, Romano and Asiago cheeses in Anuga’s Dairy Hall.

The U.S. Pavilion will also offer a “New Product Showcase” sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The exhibits provide a quick overview of innovations launched during Anuga by U.S. Pavilion exhibitors. Highlights among the new products this year are Rabbit Creek’s “Wild Bird Seed Crunch” filled with pumpkin, sunflower and sesame seeds. Renfro will come out with its latest “Ghost Pepper Nacho Cheese Sauce” made with pepper chilies. A sure attention grabber will be Groceries USA’s Mocha Syrup which is made of real coffee extract and cocoa and IXE Agro which will get attention for the cherimoya fruit. The fruit is fleshy and soft, sweet, white in color, with a sherbet – like texture. Mark Twain called the cherimoya “the most delicious fruit known to men.” The “New Products Showcase Exhibit” is located in hall 10.2, booth I 63.

Attendees on the lookout for U.S. distribution rights should pick up a copy of the “Anuga 2013 USA Pavilion Directory,” available at all eight Pavilion locations. The directory includes alphabetical and product listings of all USA Pavilion companies with respective contact information and product descriptions.

The neighboring NAFTA countries Canada and Mexico will be represented as well: Canadian Pavilions can be found in hall 11.2 hosted by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and hall 6 where the Canadian Beef Export Federation and Canadian Pork will showcase their member companies. Mexican companies are located with unique products in the Fine Food hall 3.1 and in the Beverage hall 8 hosted by Promexico. Additional Mexican products will also be showcased by the Ministry of Agriculture of Mexico in hall 3.1.

More than 7,000 North and South American buyers will make the trip to Anuga this year. Among them will be buyers from major North American food retailers such as Wal-Mart, Kroger, Costco, Target and Safeway.
